Insulation Removal & Replacement

Vacuum out the contaminated layer, sanitize, and start clean

Some attics cannot be topped up. Rodent nesting, a roof leak after a summer storm, or twenty years of humid Gulf air can leave insulation that is matted, stained, or carrying odor into the living space. Adding new material on top of that just buries the problem.

Removal and replacement is a two-stage job. We vacuum the old material out through a sealed hose into contained bags, treat the attic deck, and then reinsulate to a full R-38. You end up with an attic that performs like new construction and smells like nothing at all.

What is included

1

Containment and protected pathways

Plastic sheeting and drop cloths line the route from the attic access to the truck, so nothing tracks through your home.

2

Full vacuum removal

A commercial insulation vacuum pulls the old material into sealed bags outside. Debris, old vent boots, and nesting material go with it.

3

Sanitizing treatment

The exposed deck and joists get an antimicrobial treatment to knock down odor and biological growth before anything new goes in.

4

Air sealing and repairs

With the deck exposed we can seal every top plate, wire penetration, and duct boot properly. This is the one time in a home's life those leaks are easy to reach.

5

New blown-in insulation to R-38

Fresh material installed at measured depth with baffles, depth rulers, and the same written guarantee we give on every job.

Insulation Removal & Replacement questions we get every week

Do I need to leave the house during removal?

No. The work happens in the attic and outside at the truck. Most homeowners stay home, and we keep the containment sealed the entire time.

Will removal fix the smell in my house?

In almost every case, yes, provided the source is in the attic. Contaminated insulation holds odor, and once it is bagged and the deck is treated, the smell leaves with it. If the odor is in ductwork or wall cavities we will say so during the inspection rather than sell you a job that will not solve it.

What about the rodents themselves?

Removal and replacement is not pest control. We will point out every entry point we find and can coordinate with a wildlife exclusion company so the sealing happens before we reinsulate. Reinsulating an attic that is still open to rodents wastes your money.
